Arte Callejero III / Street Art III

There is no need to visit a museum or an art gallery in order to appreciate a variety of artistic expressions. The street itself is the canvass for a great variety of examples. More Street Art in the streets of Buenos Aires can be found at Street Art I and Street Art II

The annual "Waiter's race" was celebrated just recently in Buenos Aires. Without a doubt the most bizarre race I've ever witnessed. What´s it all about? well waiters from around the country have to come dressed up in their work attaire and walk around 7 blocks down Avenida de Mayo, carrying a tray with two bottles and a glass of orange juice. They can´t run, just walk fast and they have to avoid spilling or toppling any of the bottles, or face elimination. The first to cross the line wins.

La Comunidad Boliviana / The Bolivian Community

On the 13th of October, the streets of Buenos Aires welcomed the traditional Bolivian festivities related to the Virgin of Copacabana. These took place as an activity within the National day of American Cultural Diversity. A sort of response to the traditional "day of the race" (celebrated on October 12th as an anniversary of the "discovery" of America by Colombus). Over 12 thousand members of the Bolivian community took to the streets with their costumes and outfits and danced to the rithm of thier music bands.
It is estimated that anywhere between 1.5 and 2 million Bolivian nationals currently live in Argentina. Making this the largest Bolivian Cummunity in the world.

I decided to change today a bit my approach. Instead of focusing on buildings, places, corners and other inanimate beings, I´ve gone through the photographs I´ve taken of people on the streets of Buenos Aires. Just random (and not so random) people going about with their lives. Whether its walking, working, reading, having a drink or posing for a picture. A small array of some of the people we come across everyday.
