Arte en el subte I / Art in the Subway I

Las siguientes son obras que se encuentran en la estación "Plaza de Mayo" de la linea A de Subterráneos. Todas las obras son del artista Martín Ron, a mi entender uno de los muralistas más talentosos de la ciudad, autor entre otras del maravilloso mural "El Cuento de los loros".

The following are some of the paintings that can be found in the "Plaza de Mayo" station of the A line of the Buenos Aires subway system. All of these were made by artist Martin Ron.One of the most talented street artists in the city, author of masterpieces such as the "El Cuento de los Loros".

Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes

El Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes se encuentra sobre la Avenida del Libertador al 1473. Su actual sede es la antigua Casa de Bombas de Obras Sanitarias de la Nación. Inicialmente funcionó en las Galerías Bon Marché (donde hoy funcionan las Galerías Pacífico). Se inauguró su actual sede el 23 de mayo de 1933. El pintor Eduardo Schiaffino fue su primer Director. 

Su planta baja se extiende en unos 2.000 metros cuadrados que están dedicados a la exposición de obras de arte de la época de la edad media hasta el Siglo XXI, y obras arte argentinas del Siglo XIX. Cuenta a su vez con una biblioteca especializada en arte que alberga más de 150.000 tomos, también abierta al visitante. 

Se puede visitar de martes a viernes entre las 12:30 y las 20:30 y los sábados y domingos de 09:30 a 20:30. Los días lunes el museo permanece cerrado. La entrada es gratuita y permiten el uso de cámaras fotográficas en su interior.

The "Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes" (National Museum of Art) can be found on Avenida del Libertador 1474. Its current venue is the old Casa de Bombas (water pump station) of the Obras Sanitarias de la Nación (basically the sewage system!) Initially the museum could be found in the Galerías Bon Marche (where the Galerías Pacífico can be found today). Its current venue was opened on the 23rd of May 1933. The painter and art critic, Eduardo Schiaffino, was the museum´s first director.

Its ground floor spreads in over 2,000 square metres where you will find on display a wide collection of paintings and sculptures from around the world, dated from the Middle Ages up until the XXI Century, and argentine art of the XIX Century. There is also a specialized art library with over 150.000 books, which is also open to the visitor.

The museum can be visited from Tuesday to Friday between the hours of 12:30 until 20:30, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 09:30 until 20:30. It is closed on Mondays. Admission is free and they allow the use of photographic cameras within the museum.

Retomando el arte callejero, es increible lo vertiginoso del cambio que se ve de día a día en la fisionomía de las calles porteñas. Aparecen del día a la mañana nuevas obras que en su mayoría embellecen el paisaje urbano. Ver también el primer post sobre arte callejero.

Coming back to the subject of street art, it is amazing the way in which the urban fisionomy of the Buenos Aires streets changes with each passing day. New paintings appear overnight, most of them adding value to the visual quality of the city. Check out the first post on Street Art.
